FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

I was able to install to my Nikon SB-900 in less than a minute. Again, speed is important for light modifiers for these types of flashes that are used mainly in event photography.

The Lumiquest Softbox III when not in use folds flat which is a great fit in my camera bag slit pouch.

AFTER FIRST USE:

Wow.  This produces amazing quality of light. I used the Lumiquest Softbox for the first time at wedding. I know it was risky not knowing the kind of light it produced before taking it out on the field, but I’ve used softboxes before in shoots and knew it would be somewhere close. Boy was I amazed.

Again about the speed, there were some occasions where I wanted the hard output of light from my Nikon SB-900 so the removal of the Lumiquest Softbox was necessary and then the installation shortly thereafter was fast and smooth. I love it.

I always keep this in my portable strobes lighting bag. I wish I had two.

A FEW OF THE FEATURES I FOUND MOST USEFUL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS INCLUDE:

  • ·          Easy to install to flash
  • ·          Folds flat when not in use

CONCLUSION:

If you own a portable flash like the Nikon SB-900 etc., then the Lumiquest Softbox III is a must.  It is always in my bag. Once you see the quality of light because of this light modifier you will feel the same.

About the Author

Lawrence
As a weekend photographer, I found myself with limited time and limited resources in terms of expanding my photographic ability due to my career. Like many weekend photography warriors, there are only 2 hours on the weekdays and maybe 8 hours or so total on the weekend to learn and grow. These time constraints is what motivated me into creating this online photography resource. I needed a photography hub where all the information I referred to is stored in one easy to navigate online location. I see this more of my online repository of photography information gathered through time. I am very proud of the success of my blog offering of "Photographer Interview Series". You will read in-depth interviews from the photography world's famous photographers. Names like David Tejada, Nick Onken, Michael Grecco and David Bean to name a few. The interview series has also expanded to include weekend photographers and now wedding photographers with the similar goal of learning from each other. My goal is to evolve this site to be the premier go to resource for photographer interviews and equipment reviews.
