You will notice the sexy red tightening ring that goes well with Nikon red as you can see from the product shot I took below:

WonderPana 145 circular Filter Holder

Installation of the Wonderpana 145 was rather easy but it did take a little extra pressure to tighten the red turn ring to attach to the other end of the Wonderpana 145.

The 6” Wide Holder Bracket upgrade was even easier to assemble also requiring no tools for assembly. I was able to install in about 1 minute. Yes, I timed myself.

I can’t wait to put this gear to use.

AFTER FIRST USE:

Can someone say sexy red? As a Nikon Shooter, the red complimented the Nikon red well as you can see from the product shot.

Can someone say one hand operation is a possiblity? Well you can if you own the WonderPana 66  6” Wide Holder Bracket upgrade to take the 6”x 8” Grad ND filters.

I didn’t want to use one hand but the situation called for it and I was glad it was possible with the Fotodiox WonderPana Ultra 66 Kit when using the rectangular filters. I only had a bike, a DSLR equipped with the WonderPana 66 packed in a Thinktank Photo sub-urban disguise that is a top loader.

I used the top loading Thinktank Photo sub-urban disguise 30 bag to support the camera as I installed the wide holder Bracket upgrade to the WonderPana 145 with one hand.  I was absolutely amazed on how easy it was to install the wide holder.

For the first time since I shot a landscape at the golden hour, the exposure for the sky and the ground were close so I didn’t have to utilize the 6”x 8” ND filters.

Below you will find details of the combinations used to obtain the same shot in terms of exposure during different times of the day utilizing different ND filters, Circular polarizer and combinations to produce the optimal shot and using the same camera settings F11 for maximum distance and shutter speed of 125 as I plan to capture the image handheld. This is a testiment how with the Wonderpana 66 Ultra Kit is all you need for landscape photography. The below configurations are what i found to get the images i want. These configurations might not work for you but is a good starting point to experiment. Along with that is detailed below the Fotodiox Wonderpana Ultra 66 kit also includes of course the Wonderpana 145mm lens adapter and the Wonderpana 66  6″8″ filter holder attachments.

So look out for future articles of the Fotodiox Wonderpana Ultra

A FEW OF THE FEATURES I FOUND MOST USEFUL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS: (view a full listing at the manufacturer website)

  • Tool-less assembly
  • Changeable orientation of 6” wide holder bracket
  • Upgradeable
  • Durable material

CONCLUSION:

If you own an Ultra Wide lens that protrudes, then you need to give the Fotodiox Wonderpana Systems a try. The strong build and flexibility are great selling points to this system. You will also feel comforted to know that whatever the situation, you would be able to get the shot using a wide range of circular and 6”x8” ND filters.  With the Fotodiox Wonderpana System it is so liberating knowing that at any time of day if the landscape is beautiful enough, I’d be able to capture it.

Please look out for future articles on how I utilized the WonderPana Ultra 66 kit to capture some amazing images through the day using the wide array of ND Filters.
