FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

The contour GPS like the Contour HD that I currently own come in cool clear plastic display like case. The major differences from the previous Contour HD is the slider used to record protrudes more and is easier to grip.

What’s in the Box?

  • ContourGPS Camera
  • 2GB SD Card*
  • Rotating Flat Surface Mount
  • Profile Mount
  • Rechargeable Battery
  • USB Cable

The major difference is the GPS and 1080p recording, which is sweet for my location scouting needs.

The on and off button was not that easy to function so I contacted customer service and they sent a new battery door with the back of the on and off button modified vertically and it now works without issue.

I was also provided with all the available mounts. I must say that if you get this type of cameras, the mounts are as important.  Don’t try to go cheap like I did one time and bought a third party mount and modified it a bit to make it work with these cameras.

AFTER FIRST USE:

What can I say but similar to the Contour HD the Contour GPS was easy to use and produced rockin video quality and my route can now be tracked via GPS which rocked when I did my first location scouting with the Contour GPS.

I have to tell you that having the GPS integrated makes my life so much easier when having to return to the scouted location. I’ll be posting more of my scouting videos soon on my youtube channel.

A FEW OF THE FEATURES I FOUND MOST USEFUL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS INCLUDE: (view a full listing at the manufacturer website)

  • ·          Add GPS to your Story
  • ·          Connect to your mobile device via Bluetooth to check the angle before pressing record
  • ·          Great Video quality
  • ·          Wide Variety of Mounts

CONCLUSION:

If you plan on documenting everything you do photography, then I highly recommend the Contour cameras. It’s small, durable and very high tech.  I plan to use the Contour GPS for more of my location scouting and even for some video tutorials.

About the Author

Lawrence
As a weekend photographer, I found myself with limited time and limited resources in terms of expanding my photographic ability due to my career. Like many weekend photography warriors, there are only 2 hours on the weekdays and maybe 8 hours or so total on the weekend to learn and grow. These time constraints is what motivated me into creating this online photography resource. I needed a photography hub where all the information I referred to is stored in one easy to navigate online location. I see this more of my online repository of photography information gathered through time. I am very proud of the success of my blog offering of "Photographer Interview Series". You will read in-depth interviews from the photography world's famous photographers. Names like David Tejada, Nick Onken, Michael Grecco and David Bean to name a few. The interview series has also expanded to include weekend photographers and now wedding photographers with the similar goal of learning from each other. My goal is to evolve this site to be the premier go to resource for photographer interviews and equipment reviews.
