Review

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

One good looking camera bag. The Chrome Niko Pack looks like a rock star photographers camera bag. I am serious. You’ll see what I am taking about via the pictures. Also, the Chrome Niko Pack doesn’t look like the typical camera bag which is a huge plus when transporting your expensive photography gear in “dangerous” area. There is also a cool hack of the Chrome Niko Pack that I will reveal further down in the review.

AFTER FIRST USE

The Chrome Niko Pack is surely not a typical photography bag I review. Yes, it might have the compartments that make the Chrome Niko Pack a camera bag but the design and configuration is quite different.

One feature that I haven’t seen in other camera bags reviewed is the ability to expose contents in the main compartment by peeling over the flap. Yes, to some it might not be a significant feature in a camera bag but if you are intention isn’t only for camera gear storage/transport it’s a great feature.

As I mentioned earlier, I have a cool hack for the Chrome Niko Pack. Are you ready? Well, this hack is mainly for strobist.  More and more it is getting difficult to use flash on location in public places. Which is why I decided to modify the Chrome Niko Pack to mount two speedlites and a diffuser in the bag after clearing out all of the internal dividers. What is great is that when the flash isn’t necessary, it can be concealed by zipping up the flap.

The Chrome Niko Pack is now dedicated for my on location strobist work in areas that discretion is key for a successful photo session. If you are interested on the exact specifics on how I modified the bag, then please leave a comment or let me know via the PhotographySILO facebook group.

A FEW OF THE FEATURES I FOUND MOST USEFUL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS: (view a full listing at the manufacturer website

  • Large zip around opening
  • Fully weather resistant without the need of additional rain cover
  • Side access U-Lock Holster

CONCLUSION:

If you are a street photographer, then the Chrome Niko Pack is your bag of choice. Not only does it provide sufficient room for your camera gear needed for on location photography but also offers multiple uses. In street photography, discretion is key and the Chrome Niko Pack provides you with the means.
