Hello my fellow photographers. As Thanksgiving is fast approaching, so are the infamous Deals on Black Friday.

Take it from me as I experienced first hand how it felt to sit outside Fry’s Electronics in the freezing cold with a portable gaming device in hand covered from head to toe in a blanket to save a few hundred dollars for products I needed and missed out on stuff I actually needed because I was stuck in one store.

This experience was pretty much the first and last time I waited in line for deals on black Friday

.

I got smart and planned ahead and created a shopping attack plan that I will share with you for great deals on black Friday.

STEP 1:

Identify your needs and wants

STEP 2:

Create list for needs and a separate list for wants. Make sure to categorize the list. (e.g. Photography items, Video Items.)

STEP 3:

Start with the Needs list and check out the brick and mortar stores circulars first and then check online.

STEP 4:

Create a spreadsheet and have a worksheet per store.

STEP 5:

List out all of your needs and wants in each store and identify which store has most of the items you need and want to select the store you plan to visit when the stores open.  Unless you are planning to buy a TV don’t bother waiting in line as it is most often the case not necessary.

STEP 6:

Now for the items in the needs list that is not in the selected store you simply check out the black Friday deals online.

With the above steps you should be able to maximize your time and maximize the items you NEED to purchase.

I hope this has been helpful. Good luck.

About the Author

Lawrence
As a weekend photographer, I found myself with limited time and limited resources in terms of expanding my photographic ability due to my career. Like many weekend photography warriors, there are only 2 hours on the weekdays and maybe 8 hours or so total on the weekend to learn and grow. These time constraints is what motivated me into creating this online photography resource. I needed a photography hub where all the information I referred to is stored in one easy to navigate online location. I see this more of my online repository of photography information gathered through time. I am very proud of the success of my blog offering of "Photographer Interview Series". You will read in-depth interviews from the photography world's famous photographers. Names like David Tejada, Nick Onken, Michael Grecco and David Bean to name a few. The interview series has also expanded to include weekend photographers and now wedding photographers with the similar goal of learning from each other. My goal is to evolve this site to be the premier go to resource for photographer interviews and equipment reviews.
