This Holiday Season, Find Unique Gifts to fit any Personality at CafePress

Hello all. Just a little disclaimer, this hour only accounts for the setup. It is almost impossible to conduct all of the research necessary and setup in an hour. Don’t worry, I will go in more detail in future posts on “How to select a name” “How to select a webhost” “How to select a domain”  “How to create a Logo that communicates to your target market” “Best practices on how to create a twitter background” so make sure you subscribe for my newsletter for updates and look out for my videos.

Now let’s get moving and create that online presence.

Step 1: Gather all the information from your Marketing plan and refer to it when following the next steps. (Approx. 1 minute)

Step 2:  Select a webhost to host your website. (Approx. 2 minutes)

  • Make sure you select a host that satisfies your needs as some webhosts are limited in their offerings

Step 3:  Select a domain name  (Approx. 2 minutes)

  • Refer to your marketing plan for the name. In the name selection stage you should have already checked to see how the name looks as a domain. For example: you don’t want a domain that looks like this.  www.ilikephotosporfavor.com (not a real website That just looks ugly. Instead choose a name like  Www.likephotos.com (not a real website).  It is also recommended to try to use the same company you are using as hosting for your domain name to make things easy.

Step 4:  Setup email accounts on all of the free email providers ( I also recommend that during the Branding stage that you check all free email providers first before finalizing a brand name.) (Approx. 15 minutes)

Step 5: Sign up for all the major social media sites (Approx. 15 minutes)

Step 6: Locate your Logo and update/create a banner or a background for each social media website.  (Approx. 15 minutes)

    • Max file size is 4mb max
      • 540 pixels  High
      • 180 pixels Wide
  • http://www.twitter.com
    • Max File size for background is 800k but you should try to get as low as possible.
      • The first 200-250 pixels width on the left hand side is a great place to put additional profile information and list websites.
          • 1600 pixels High
          • 2048 pixels Wide

Step 7: Setup your wordpress site. (Approx. 10 minutes)

Voila…. You now have an online presence to grow.

About the Author

Lawrence
As a weekend photographer, I found myself with limited time and limited resources in terms of expanding my photographic ability due to my career. Like many weekend photography warriors, there are only 2 hours on the weekdays and maybe 8 hours or so total on the weekend to learn and grow. These time constraints is what motivated me into creating this online photography resource. I needed a photography hub where all the information I referred to is stored in one easy to navigate online location. I see this more of my online repository of photography information gathered through time. I am very proud of the success of my blog offering of "Photographer Interview Series". You will read in-depth interviews from the photography world's famous photographers. Names like David Tejada, Nick Onken, Michael Grecco and David Bean to name a few. The interview series has also expanded to include weekend photographers and now wedding photographers with the similar goal of learning from each other. My goal is to evolve this site to be the premier go to resource for photographer interviews and equipment reviews.
