A question asked by many newbie photo enthusiasts. I have to admit this question was one of my own. What type of camera do i need? Well, there are a few variables to consider before correctly selecting the perfect camera for your needs.
After going through an extensive research process which i will detail below, I purchased a Nikon D200 on January 2007 and 2 plus years later I am still happy with my photographic weapon of choice.
Please be patient as I look back in time to my exact process on purchasing what I felt as the perfect camera for my needs.
It all started in November of 2007 when my girlfriend decided to purchase a digital SLR to my suprise. With guidance from the local camera store salesperson, she selected the Nikon D200. So after a few months playing with her camera and extensive research I purchased my Nikon D200.
My love for photography didn’t start shortly after my girlfriend purchased her DSLR. It started in High School but never did materialize due to the barriers to entry. But now, with film and chemical processing out of the equation and replaced with reusable compact flash media and Adobe Photoshop for post processing, I was able to afford the hobby.
First, I read about the popular camera brands in forums and various photography websites and identifed which strengths and weakenesses played to my benefit as detailed below:
The three brands i primarily researched are detailed below:
NIKON
Pros:
1.Reputable brand
2.Durable for D200 and up models
3.Good lenses
Cons
1.Costs more than another brand equivelant

2.Get more bang for the buck
